I love owning my own business. I get to meet new people and cultivate relationships with clients on a level that probably only their wedding planner gets to experience. My clients and I have a special bond and I get to be their cheerleader, their advocate, and sometimes even their therapist, lending an ear and offering support. I love this job. During my less hectic wedding months I like to hang out with friends and second shoot for them. It becomes an interesting dynamic, since I’m usually the one that clients seek out in a moment of panic/joy on the wedding day. Second shooting is bitter sweet in many ways. I have the opportunity to be a bit more “out there” in my creativity (since I know the main shooter will get everything we need), I get to be a little more quiet, and help out, but at the same time I also miss out on that closeness with the wedding couple. It was nice to backup Mikkel, of Mikkel Paige Photography be her second shooter on this day! I got to go outside during the ceremony (OUTSIDE?) so I could try some shots through the window, and I got to hang out in the balcony during the dances, walk really far away and shoot through bushes and trees during the portraits. Its fun getting to do something a little different without being so nervous to miss the important moments during the day. Erin and Chris were so awesome, that I was a little jealous of Mikkel having that awesome relationship that I normally get to have with the wedding couple. Super fun party, so many fun members of the bridal party, and can you just look at Erin’s headpiece during the reception.. how amazing? So much fun shooting with Mikkel (even if I was a little bit sick) and seeing another photographer doing her wedding thang! Here a few of my favorites from second shooting Erin and Chris’s wedding day at Florentine Gardens (which is all of seven minutes from my door!)
